Etihad Rail has officially launched a comprehensive “Rail to Road” mobility initiative in direct partnership with Thrifty Car Rental UAE, allowing train passengers to rent cars directly from railway stations across the United Arab Emirates to resolve critical first- and last-mile connectivity challenges.
Eithad Rail has finally launched a comprehensive rail-to-road mobility initiative in direct partnership with Thrifty Car Rental UAE. It helps the passenger they could rent a car from the railway station across the United Arab Emirates to resolve critical first- and last-mile connectivity challenges.

The multi-model initiative follows an exclusive five-year commercial agreement signed between the national railways operator and Thrifty UAE. It is designed to provide a flexible and seamless onwards road transportation for daily commuters, business executives, and international tourists across all 11 planned Etihad Rail passenger stations nationwide.
Under the new operational agreement, passengers can conveniently reserve rental vehicles starting at competitive daily rates from AED 80 through the official Etihad Rail mobile application, website, or Thrifty’s reservation portal.
To streamline passenger movement upon arrival at destinations, every rail station will feature dedicated travellers to reserve rental vehicles simultaneously alongside their electronic train ticket purchases.
To support the national transport expansion, Thrifty UAE is committing a capital investment exceeding AED 10 million over the five-year partnership period. This funding deployment will focus on expanding localised fleet availability, upgrading digital booking infrastructure, and deploying AI-driven customer service solutions. The service launches with an initial baseline fleet of 500 on-demand vehicles, with operational capacity structured to scale dynamically in direct response to growing passenger volumes across the expanding national railway line.
The joint initiative directly addresses a primary structural barrier to public transit adoption globally by eliminating transit friction and travel delays between main railway terminals and final individual destinations. As Etihad Rail continues rolling out passenger services across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and the Northern Emirates, integrated rail-to-road services reinforce the country’s comprehensive vision to establish a fully interconnected, smart, and sustainable national transport infrastructure.
