On Wednesday morning, the gold price in Dubai has fallen again, bringing local retail rates down further from the previous peak-level records earlier this month across jewellers’ outlets in the Emirates.
The current rate of 24-carat gold price is Dh522.50 per gram, as of Tuesday, to Dh526.00, a difference of Dh3.50. On the other hand, the value of 22-carat gold fell to around Dh483.75 per gram losing Dh3.25 it was measured by the earlier value of Dh487.00. The current price fall means that 24-carat gold is Dh8.25 cheaper than Monday’s
Lower purities also tracked downward, with 21-karat falling to Dh462.50 and 18-karat dropping to Dh396.50 per gram.

Local retail gold prices have experienced notable volatility throughout August. Having started the month at Dh487.25 per gram, 24K gold surged past the Dh500 threshold to reach a high monthly peak of Dh533.25 on August 12. Wednesday’s rate stands Dh10.75 below that monthly high, though it remains Dh35.25 above the opening price recorded on August 1. Similarly, 22K gold climbed from Dh451.25 at the beginning of the month to Dh494.00 on August 12 before moderating to its current rate.
The local price dip directly reflects broader shifts across international commodity and bullion markets. Global spot gold prices rebounded slightly on Wednesday morning, trading above $4,360 per ounce after experiencing a steep 2% decline during the previous trading session. The international sell-off was primarily driven by a sharp surge in US Treasury bond yields, as the 30-year yield reached its highest level in nearly two decades. Because physical gold offers no yield, elevated bond returns typically place short-term downward pressure on bullion demand.
Despite the recent two-day price retreat, regional market analysts note that consumer retail interest in Dubai remains exceptionally resilient, underpinned by persistent macroeconomic uncertainty and favorable currency conversion rates for Asian expatriates.
