Completion of the first passenger station for the Etihad Rail in Dubai at the Jumeirah Golf Estates is close, which signals an important step forward for the country’s national rail plan as preparations go underway for the opening of the station on September 30. The new rail station will link Dubai with the country’s expanding inter-emirates passenger rail system.
The new station is among Etihad Rail’s passenger stations throughout the country, which is the country’s biggest transport infrastructure development project in the country.
Passenger services began on the Abu Dhabi–Fujairah corridor earlier this year, while the Dubai station is expected to significantly expand the network’s reach by linking the emirate to destinations across the country.
Located beside the existing Dubai Metro station at Jumeirah Golf Estates, the new rail hub is designed to provide seamless transfers between national rail services, the Metro and public bus routes. This multimodal integration is expected to improve commuter convenience and encourage greater use of public transportation while easing pressure on major highways connecting Dubai with other emirates.
Images released ahead of the launch show the station in its final stages of construction, with modern architecture, spacious passenger facilities and integrated transport infrastructure taking shape. Once operational, the terminal will serve as Dubai’s primary gateway to the Etihad Rail passenger network, which is expected to connect 11 cities and regions across the UAE. Each train is designed to accommodate hundreds of passengers while offering amenities aimed at business and leisure travellers alike.
The station’s opening is also expected to enhance the appeal of surrounding residential and commercial districts, particularly Jumeirah Golf Estates, by improving regional accessibility. Future transport plans include integration with Dubai Metro’s proposed Gold Line, creating a broader public transport network that links urban transit with national rail services.
With the countdown to the September launch underway, Etihad Rail’s Dubai station represents another step in the UAE’s long-term strategy to build a connected, sustainable transport system. Officials expect the expanded passenger network to improve travel efficiency, support tourism and business, and strengthen economic ties between the country’s major population centres.
